Some time ago, the late Kirk Fordice, former Governor of Mississippi said this: ”Christianity is the predominant religion in America. We all know thats’ an incontrovertible fact. The media always refer to the “Jewish state of Israel” They talk about the “Muslim country of Saudi Arabia” of Iran, of Iraq. We all talk about the “Hindu nation of India” America is nothing but a Christian country” He was right! America has always been a “Christian” nation despite what Obama, the media, or all those who are currently clamoring to change it say. It is wrong. It is immoral and unethical for those with an agenda to change America into a Godless, socialist state to try to fabricate history to suit their idealogy and make of her something she is not. Anyone who takes even a cursory look at the history of our country knows without question that the United States of America was founded on Christian principles. Take a look around! The words “In God we Trust” has been on our currency since the beginning. Those same words are inscribed in the House and Senate chambers. These words appear in the dome of the Capitol “The new Testament according to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” The metal cap on top of the Washington Monument has these word “Praise be to God” written on it. The crier who opens each session of the Supreme Court closes with these words “God save the United States and the Honorable Court” Every President (including Obama) takes his oath of office by laying his hand on a Christian bible and ends with “So help me God” There are so many undeniable references throughout the history of this nation that validate our Christian heritage that it is ludicrous to argue the point. It’s in our DNA. It’s who we are! Like it or not, the United States of America was founded on Christian values and remains a predominantly Christian nation today irrespective of Obamas’ recent pandering in Turkey, or the zealots with a different agenda.
Every one of our Founding Fathers, every Presidents has espoused a belief in God. Does that mean that every citizen has to be a Christian? No! Does it mean that government or anyone else should force people to profess to be Christians or attend religious services? No! Does it mean that non-Christians cannot have other ideas or beliefs? No! But what it does mean is that the freedoms, the liberty, the ideals, morals and the ethics that have made this country the greatest, most productive, land of freedom and opportunity ever to exist was made so by adhering to the tenets of Christianity. May it ever be so.
